Speaking
From our youth, we're born speakers, some far more naturally skilled than others. In both a business and personal setting, however, the key to effective speaking is to know your content, know your audience, and be absolutely certain that there is both alignment between the two. If you are speaking to a non-technical audience about a highly-technical subject matter, it can be done, but you will have the task as the person speaking to translate the message in a way that can be understood by those in attendance.
Throughout my career, I've had many wonderful speaking opportunities, whether at local or regional meetings or, in many cases, larger national and International meetings and conferences. In many cases, the content involved technical topics and, in most recent years, use of the Internet to conduct the most effecient research possible. In my view, the basics always apply and I welcome each and every speaking opportunity as a means to connect with a new audience. My speaking experience has included presentations of various sizes throughout North America, parts of Europe, and also throughout Australia.
As technology has advanced, we sometimes find ourselves speaking to remote audiences, which can provide a host of special challenges, depending upon the size, time zone, and scope of those signing on from the comfort of their own homes or offices. This has become an especially familiar means of learning and sharing since our entire world has had to adapt to Covid-19 restricted measures.
There is additional detail about my speaking skills, including public speaking, keynote speaker, and other very similar skills. If you're in the planning stages for a meeting or function, in-person or virtual, and looking for a speaking alternative, I do hope you'll consider contacting me.
