Mattatuck Consulting, LLC

In 2002 I took on my first client assignments following my departure from the A&E Televisions Networks. Privately held A&E had decided to sell their California-based genealogy subsidiary which included Family Tree Maker ("FTM"), one of the oldest and most recognized brands in genealogy. The business, started by Banner Blue Software as corporate org charting software, saw many owners come and go. At one point, toy giant Mattel owned FTM, but ultimately, A&E would sell to Ancestry and exit the business. In March 2003, I formalized my consulting assignments, establishing Mattatuck Consulting, LLC. The name came from the original American Indian name for what would later be called Waterbury, Connecticut — my historic place of birth featured in Ken Burns documentary, The War.

Mattatuck Consulting

While the name Mattatuck was and is special to me, it wasn't reflective of the business I was in. Over time, I adopted other names, d/b/a Google Your Family Tree and Family Tree Brands, sometimes also abbreviated as FTBrands.

Following some personal and professional challenges that unfortunately impacted my business and health, I have simplified things further and have adopted my name as my branding. You can use whichever name you'd prefer, but I'd merely suggest that if you're looking for someone with nearly four decades of broad and deep business experience, nearly all dealing with technology, please consider contacting me today.
