Family Tree Brands

Family Tree Brands is a registered DBA ('Doing Business As'), establishing an alternate name for the portion of Mattatuck Consulting LLC business focused on genealogy and family history. While many of my most visible client assignments have been in the family history space, this is not universally the case. I've worked with a range of organizations, both for-profit and nonprofit, in other market categories. Some examples include insurance, investment funds, transportation, golf courses, entertainment, health care, computer technology (SaaS), health and fitness clubs, law firms, publishing, political campaigns, events and event planning, rowing clubs, news/broadcasting, and more.

The mission of Family Tree Brands is to leverage my professional experience, extensive contacts, and personal passion for all aspects of genealogy and technology for the benefit of new products, services, events, and destinations seeking to connect with the growing base of family historians worldwide.

Family Tree Brands

As I've shared on other pages of this site, the active pursuit of family history was long relegated to a small portion of the population, notably retired seniors who had the time required to visit archives, libraries, court houses, cemeteries, and other repositories. In just the last two decades, we have seen a radical transformation in both records access, but also in the tools available for individuals and small groups to share the contents of their private collections with a worldwide audience. Genealogy is now front-and-center in many discussions among all demographics.

Through my work with Family Tree Brands, I've been honored to help many of the worlds leading genealogy organizations develop, market, promote, sell, and refine their offerings for a growing customer base. One special example was my involvement in the early-stage planning and then later being asked to serve as a national spokesperson for the historic release of the 1940 U.S. Federal Census in 2012. That multi-organization community project was a ground-breaking event in many ways for the genealogy industry. Background discussions and work have already commenced for the 1950 census, set for public release in April 2022. It will prove to be an even more impactful event for the genealogy and research communities.

There has never been a more exciting time to work in and witness the breakthroughs in family history research, including records preservation, DNA matching, crowd sourcing projects, and much more. If you have a product, service, event, destination or merely and early-stage concept that you're considering for the genealogy marketplace, please contact me so we can discuss the possibility of Family Tree Brands helping you achieve that vision.
